Our Body: the Universe Within is a traveling science exhibit on human anatomy. The exhibit consists of six galleries of actual human specimens in a logical presentation of the biological systems of the human body: Musculoskeletal, Head and Nervous, Urinary/Reproductive (including a unit on prenatal), Digestive, Respiratory, and Cardiovascular. The exhibition was designed to educate, enlighten, and allow all who attend to understand the complexities of the human body and to see how each system functions and relates to all the other systems. As a way to orient the visitor, the exhibit opens with a display of the history of anatomy throughout the ages from the earliest drawings to the present-day process of plastination.

Doug Bell, otherwise known as “The Professor,” is the front man of the 20-year-old, eight-piece band Bellevue Cadillac, which has earned nine Grammy nominations over the past five years and is a big-time draw on the Boston music scene and beyond. The Professor brings his solo act to ECHO for a cool lesson in “Modern Retro,” a mix of jazz, blues, swing, rock, soul, and country.

Join Bennington Museum curator, Jamie Franklin, for a tour of four area cemeteries, plus a guided tour of Memento Mori: The Art and Commerce of Gravestones, now on display at the Museum. Participation in the all-day program, including admission to the Museum, is only $12 for Bennington Museum members and $15 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Your registration fee will provide you with a map and itinerary for the day, which begins at 10:00 and ends at 4:00. Transportation is not provided. A one-hour break for lunch (on your own) is included in the schedule. The four-cemetery tour will introduce you to some of the stones carved by the most prominent carvers of this area, all of whom are represented in the Memento Mori exhibition. Jamie will point out stones carved by these individuals, provide information about the carvers, and explore the evolution of the artwork and symbolism of gravestones over time. Total registration is limited to 25 participants so please make your reservation early. The tour will take place rain or shine. Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
