Low Intermediate/Intermediate, Mondays 4pm – 530pm High Intermediate/Advanced, Mondays 5pm-630pm For Donlin Foreman (former Principle dancer for Martha Graham) Ballet class has been a specific door into the house of expressive dancing and maintenance of the body. Through this ballet class we will deal with the fundamentals of: placement, rhythm, physicality, line, and cultivating performance quality. His extensive work with Alexander Technique (google it) and Pilates greatly influences his point of view. His concentration in both levels is: placement, line, rhythm, physicality, and performance quality using the ballet vocabulary and steps to become stronger more aware dancers. This class has an incredible grasp on artistry and technique while taking a unique focus on each individual dancer. This is not like any ballet class that you have experienced and greatly increases you ability both in line, focus, artistry and technique. This class does require commitment.

Mukpo Institute: Spring Semester
City: Barnet
Place: Karme Choling 369 Patneaude Lane
Price: $3300
Phone: 802-633-2384
Email: marketing@karmecholing.org

Mukpo Institute students conduct a three-month investigation into intensive meditation practice and contemplative study in beautiful rural Vermont. At its root, the curriculum presents the heart teachings and forms of Shambhala Buddhism, as presented by both Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and the Vidyadhara, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Mukpo Institute is made up of a series of retreats that are offered over the course of the semester (Fall/Spring). The heart of the Mukpo Institute semester is a month-long mindfulness retreat called dathün. During dathün, students apply mindfulness to all activities in addition to scheduled walking and sitting meditation sessions. Meals are taken in traditional Japanese monastic style; silence or mindful speech is observed; also mind-body disciplines are practiced. Immersing oneself in the Mukpo Institute allows the space and time to delve into the age old question of what it really means to be human and alive within the context of living in a contemplative community.

Dathün (Tibetan for "month session") is a month-long group meditation retreat for those who wish to establish or deepen their meditation practice. You will be introduced to Shambhala Meditation, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s new practice of connecting directly with basic goodness as the ground for meditation practice and everyday life. The basic practice of shamatha-vipashyana will be developed over the course of the dathun using the classic Four Foundations of Mindfulness, and the structure of the dathun will reflect the wisdom of the Four Dignities. For beginning as well as advanced practitioners, this program will provide a powerful experience at any age or stage of life. Deepen your meditation practice, as well as fulfill group practice requirements for the Shambhala Buddhist path. Dathün consists of individual meditation instruction, guided meditation, contemplations, and dharma talks, which develop insight and open our hearts of compassion. Each day follows a traditional schedule, with periods of sitting and walking meditation, exercises, chants, and a short work session. Functional silence is observed for most of the retreat, and meals are served Shambhala Oryoki style. Participants are encouraged to attend the entire dathun. Those who are able to attend only one or two weekthüns are very welcome to do so, but please note that first-time participants must enter at the very beginning. Those who have attended dathün previously may enter either at the beginning or at the midway point. Any exceptions must receive permission from the director. Shrine room floor accommodations are included in the dathün price for people taking the full program.
