Take Two Sonnets and Call Me in the Morning: a personal story by Shakespeare scholar Tom Blachly 11/6/14 - 11/6/14
Hear a revealing tale of one man's bone-deep love of Shakespeare's work, and how it dramatically cured his blues, banished his boredom and virtually saved his life. Through his autobiographical talk on this restorative journey, Tom will reflect on the Bard's enduring impact on art, language and the powers of human reason. Take a guided plunge into the invigorating universe of Shakespeare's masterfully crafted plays and sonnets. Come if you're a fan of Shakespeare's work, or you'd like a deeper appreciation of it. Come if you're just curious to hear Tom's personal story. Tom has written roughly 40 plays, which include a cycle of nineteen 5-act works about American history inspired by Shakespeare's English history cycle. He has directed plays for over 30 years at Unadilla Theater in East Calais, Vermont, and through the group called Shakespeare in the Hills, which he formed with friends, he has mounted numerous productions and run a summer camp for young thespians.
