A weekend of literary-inspired diversions for every Jane Austen fan: informal talk over dessert: Making Sense of Regency England, afternoon tea , Regency style dinner party & discussion of Sense and Sensibility, Sunday brunch & a quiz with prizes. Optional carriage ride. Dress in whichever century suits you. Stay for the weekend or attend for an evening. It won't be good company; it will be the best. Reservations essential.

First activity of the Jane Austen weekend at The Governor's House, this informal talk entitled “Making Sense of Regency England” explains English money of the time, carriages and traveling, the postal system, and many other details which are important in Sense and Sensibility. $14 including dessert. Advance reservations required.
Jane Austen Tea 9/6/14 - 9/6/14
Part of the Jane Austen weekend at The Governor's House in Hyde Park, the tea is open to the public. Although this is English afternoon tea made popular during the Victorian Era with scones, jam, clotted cream, finger sandwiches, and tea cakes, there will be readings and discussion of tea the way Jane Austen would have enjoyed it during the Regency Period. Reservations essential.
