Description: Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes Mark Dallas, Assistant Professor at Union College, to talk about the economic rise of China, starting with the economic reforms of the 1980s, through the era of globalization to today. The first half will explore China’s unique transition from state socialism to a mixed economy (by contrasting it with Russia’s failed transition). The second half will address how China’s entry into the global economy and changes in global capitalism simultaneously enable and constrain Chinese development. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to register, please call our office at 802-867-0111 or visit www.greenmtnacademy.org.
