Greetings!
Those Dog Days are Wonderful Days
So what's wrong with the so-called "dog days of August?" Not a thing. Just ask
your pup as he trots along a mountain trail or lounges in a stream. Many lodges
and inns in the Green Mountains welcome your pooch (but, be sure and ask first)
and you. Take a look at our
Pet Friendly page to help make plans for you and your best friend. August in
Vermont is delightful. The skies are blue, the days warm, and the evenings cool.
The flowers bloom everywhere and the green fields and mountain peaks are in their
glory. All that means is, you should be here. We want to be able to tell you about
all the bargains and special deals that await you every month, so if you haven't already,
Subscribe
for our e-letter and the chance to win trips and prizes.
July's Issue included a Golf Vacation for two at the incredibly beautiful
Stratton Mountain Resort!

Vermont Trivia
True or False?
Fact: Vermont was the first
state to abolish slavery.
True! - Not only was Vermont
the first state to abolish slavery, but also the first sovereign nation in modern
times to do so. Slavery was specifically abolished in the constitution that Vermont
adopted on July 8, 1777. During the years between this and 1791 (when it became
a state), Vermont was technically a sovereign nation.

The Weston Playhouse ends it's 2005 Theatre Season soon
The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company's 2005 season is soon coming
to an end and the Playhouse leadership promises "stories told as only live theatre
can."
Now playing thru August 20th is Sam and Bella Spewack's
"Kiss Me Kate" - Fred Graham casts his ex-wife, a Hollywood
diva, to co-star in a musical Taming of the Shrew, and in no time the battle of
the sexes is taking place offstage as well as on, when two gunmen show up to collect
on a gambling debt. Before you can say "Brush up your Shakespeare," the thugs are
onstage, the shrew is tamed, and Cole Porter shows us that love can conquer all.
Other performances include "John & Jen" Aug 17 -
Sep 4, "Blithe Spirit" Aug 25 - Sep 4, and
"Cyrano" Oct 13-15. Season Subscriptions, Group Sales and Singles
Tickets are now available by phone. Mention VERMONT.COM when you call!

The Dorset Theatre Festival's 30th Anniversary Season
The historic Dorset Playhouse has been in continuous use since
it's construction in 1929. The original Playhouse structure is composed of two
pre-revolutionary barns moved to the present site from Dorset West Road. Professional
theatre at the Dorset Playhouse has been an important part of
life in Dorset and Manchester since the 1930s. It is one of this area's most widely
known cultural attractions attended by our community's own residents and by thousands
from across a three-state area.
Now playing August 11-14 "The Lion in Winter". A life
and death struggle for love, power, and acceptance. August 4-10 and 16-20 features
"Sky Girls". Celebrating the women aviators of WWll.
An amazing theatrical experience. Mention VERMONT.COM when you call!
