Fourth of July at Stratton: Bluegrass Festival and Fireworks
The annual Bluegrass Festival returns to Stratton Mountain on the Fourth of July
weekend (July 1-3) with live music throughout the day and into the evening. All
performances are free. Fireworks are set for Sunday, July 2 at 9:15 p.m.
This year's musical line-up features The Biscuit Burners, The Gordon
Stone Band, High Range, Banjo Dan and the Midnight Plowboys,
The Bondville Boys and The Lonesome Whistle Band. Roving
entertainers and craft vendors line the Village each day. Throughout the weekend,
Stratton offers scenic gondola rides to the summit of southern Vermont's highest
peak, hiking, canoe and kayak rentals, paintball and golf on the championship 27
hole course.

The Weston Playhouse - Stories told as only Live Theatre can
The Weston Playhouse is celebrating its 70th Anniversary Season this year! The
Main Stage opened the season with Marion J. Caffey's portrait of the legendary
blues artist Alberta Hunter, featuring 22 musical numbers in Cookin' at
the Cookery - June 20th thru July 8th. Other Stages performances at the
Weston Rod & Gun Club opened the season with Tomie dePaola's Strega
Nona, a Musical for the Young and Young-at-Heart - June 15 through July 2.
Other performances this year include:
"Urinetown the Musical" July 13-29, "The Mikado"
Aug 3-19, "Stones in His Pockets" Aug 24-Sep 3, "I Am My
Own Wife" July 26-Aug 13, and the Fall Production "Metamorphoses"

Dorset Theatre Festival continues with The 2006 Season
Professional Theatre at the Dorset Playhouse has been an important part of life
in Dorset and Manchester, Vermont since the 1930's, attended by our community's
own residents, by thousands from across a three state area and summer visitors
from all locations. This year, one of the area's most widely known cultural
attractions includes performances of "Moonlight and Magnolias"
June 15-24, Agatha Cristie's "A Murder is Announced" June 29-July
15, "Tom Jones" July 20-Aug 5, "Peter Pan" Aug
10-26, and "The Glass Menagerie" Aug 31-Sept 10.

Vermont Summer Festival - New England's largest show-jumping event!
Fun for the entire family, the twelfth annual Vermont Summer Festival Horse Shows
offer five weeks of top equestrian competition in July & August. Just off
scenic Route 7 north of East Dorset the show grounds offer food, drink and shopping

2006 Komen Vermont Race for the Cure
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is a national non-profit organization
with Komen Race for the Cure events in 112 cities across the country. Through early
funding of basic research, Komen has laid the groundwork for some of today's most
promising breast cancer treatments. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded
over 583 grants from its Grant Fund to recipients who were selected through a peer
review process recognized by the National Cancer Institute.
This year, the Annual 5k run/walk for All and 1 Mile Steeplechase for Children at
Hildene's Meadowlands in Manchester will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2006. A
feel-good family event with a festival-like atmosphere, music, food and more.
