The Green Mountain Club (GMC) primarily cares for the Long Trail. Additionally, GMC's advocacy and education efforts help to safeguard Vermont's many other hiking trails. Our volunteers & staff teach low-impact practices & safety skills that outdoor enthusiasts use whenever they hit the backwoods.
Benefits of Membership:
At-Large Membership: Members support the mission of the club and general operations. Includes the option to participate in trail maintenance and management through a variety of club-wide programs, including adopting a section of trail or a shelter, serving on a committee, volunteering as caretakers, and members are welcome to participate in section events.
Section Membership: A GMC section is a local chapter that maintains a designated portion of the Long Trail System. In addition to the regular benefits of membership, GMC section members receive section updates via newsletters and online listings for local hikes, trail work trips, and other events.
