Description: The Samara Piano Quartet joins together four established musicians who have dedicated their professional lives to chamber music. The quartet takes its name from the winged seeds produced by the abundant maple trees surrounding their rehearsal studio in Keene, New Hampshire. Established in the summer of 2017, Samara’s first visit to Highland Center for the Arts promises to be a thrilling performance, featuring works of Mozart, Turina, and Brahms. This program features a pre-concert talk, at 6:00 PM in the Performance Studio, “Chamber Music Inside Out: The Creative Process Involved in Performing Someone Else’s Work.” Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.
