Summary: The Veterans’ Place in Northfield to Celebrate 10-Year Milestone with Music, BBQ, on August 24?, featuring special guest ??Jamie Lee Thurston On Saturday, August 24, the Veterans Place in Northfield is hosting an outdoor BBQ and free concert to mark 10 years of helping homeless veterans transition to stable, productive lives. Please join the Northfield and Norwich University communities in celebrating this milestone with vocalist Jamie Lee Thurston in an afternoon of food, music, and camaraderie with our veteran community. The celebration will take place from 3 to 8pm on the green opposite Plumley Armory and the entrance to Norwich University, on Vt. Route 12. Established in 2009, The Veterans Place, Inc. is a non-profit, community-based, 26-bed, substance-free transitional housing program located in central Vermont dedicated to reducing Vermont’s homeless veterans’ population. TVPI, in conjunction with the Veterans Medical Facility in White River Junction, Vt., and other Veterans facilities and state agencies in Vermont and New Hampshire, works to provide affordable housing, nutritious meals, substance and mental health counseling, and employment and volunteer placement assistance, among other support services. TVPI offers “a hand-up, not a hand-out.”
