Skiing had always been a favorite winter pastime in Vermont, and the Rutland-Killington region offers many ski vacation opportunities. Located just southwest of Montpelier, VT, this area is home to one of the State's largest cities, Rutland, VT. Route 7 and Route 4 are two major highways of the western half of Vermont that intersect at Rutland, VT.
Ski Mountains of this region include Killington Mountain Resort and Pico Mountain. Both are less than 2hrs from the Burlington International Airport and 30min from the Rutland Airport.
Many of the country's best skiers come from Vermont, and Alpine Skiing Olympic Medalist Andrea Lawrence was born in Rutland County, Vermont.
