Fun Fact: The town was originally named Killington but in 1800 it was renamed Sherburne in honor of Colonel Benjamin Sherburne, one of the original grantees. Because there was so much confusion when people were looking for Killington (not realizing that they actually wanted Sherburne), in 1999 the name was changed back to Killington.
