The Art of Technology - Exhibit 3/5/21 - 4/16/21

The Exhibit will feature: -Peter Wallis with animation and art in two of our first-floor galleries. As an artist, he is interested in where the sacred and mundane exist in a liminal space of the past, present and dreams. His work is a collection of objects and places set in a landscape of memory that connects these objects to where he has been and where he is going. This recent body of work is a bildungsroman series that tells the story of his childhood in Vermont and Maine with the layers of history of New England and California coming together in a shared space. -Robert Gold, solo gallery with photography of images. His photographs use combined technologies and accidental discoveries, plus good old fashioned free hand all combined. -Robert Waldo Brunelle Jr. pieces of kinetic art. -Castleton University Art Department with student work and a unique light display in many of the mansion windows. Chaffee artist members will also have work on display and for sale in the upstairs galleries, as well as in the Gallery Shoppe that is filled with handmade treasures and gift ideas for any occasion, or even for yourself! This exhibit will be up until April 16th. As we celebrate 60 years as an art center in the Rutland Community, we also invite you to join as an artist, single or family member to help the Chaffee to continue to inspire and cultivate creativity, while positively impacting the vitality of our community through the arts. Annual Student Exhibit & Digital Expression: Expressions of Me OPENING 4/23/21 - 6/4/21

The Chaffee Art Center is proud to again showcase young artists from dozens of Vermont schools and homeschoolers for this Annual Student Exhibit. We take great pleasure in creating an opportunity for these talented young people to be inspired by seeing their artwork, and the works of others, displayed in our professional gallery housed in an historic 1890’s mansion. This year’s theme, Expressions of Me, encourages students to create works that reflect themselves…how they feel, how they see things… Entries in all of the arts are encouraged (art medium, theater, culinary, poetry, music, literature and more). Only works by students in pre-school and grades K – 12 are eligible for this show. Vermont public, private, and home school groups are all invited to participate. Delivery of work to Chaffee on April 15, 16, 17.
